Starting a Community Sports Team in your Country 

You have expressed an interest in starting a Community Sports Team (CST) in your country.

World Sport Ministries was birthed in 1999 and has been faithfully trying to obey God’s vision and mission ever since as follows:

Vision: ‘A world reached for Jesus Christ in and through sport.’
Mission: ‘To establish and support Sports Ministry Teams in communities throughout the world.’

Jesus had and was the message, and to deliver it, He built and discipled a team and taught them to do the same, demonstrating His love and power in them as they engaged with others.

There is nothing like sports ministry as part of ‘the church’ that can do exactly the same and so WSM has a heart to serve the local church and see disciples made using the powerful tool of sport through the significant model of the Community Sports Team.

In partnership with others, WSM has helped start and support CST’s throughout the UK and internationally and will continue to do so because God has told us to and because they are effective and multipliable.

The Community Sports Team is a model that encourages the sporty and outreach minded Christians from different churches to form a trained & equipped network team, and then prayerfully seek to disciple people towards and in Christ in partnership with local churches.

Best practice and suggested ways of doing this are covered in our CST training and supporting resources available and activated after the decision is agreed to begin a CST in your area.

The CST model was birthed through WSM but we have a heart to build God’s Kingdom and not our own empire, and so to fulfil our calling we seek to:

1. Engage with like minded believers, churches and ministries
2. Equip them to develop sports ministry through the CST model
3. Empower them to ‘own’ the vision to effectively reach their community.

If WSM senses it’s correct to, you will be contacted and sent a partnership agreement pack for you to complete and return; this is likely to be preceded by an informal interview via Skype or Zoom.

Statement of Faith

1. We believe that there is only one God. Forever existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

2. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, His miracles, His atoning death through His shed blood as our substitute, His bodily resurrection and His ascension to the right hand of the Father and His forthcoming return. ( Matt 20:28); (1 Peter 1:18-19); (1 Tim 1:15); (2 Corinth 5:21)

3. We believe in the presence and the availability of the Holy Spirit who is God, the third person of the Holy Trinity and our wonderful counsellor enabling us to experience and live a godly life. (John 14:16-17)

4. We believe that the Bible (both the Old and New Testament) to be inspired by God and is the infallible authoritative Word of God and revelation of God to man. (2 Tim 3:16-17)

5. We believe in the second coming of Christ, when all mean that believe and have accepted Jesus as Lord will receive eternal life and those that have rejected Him will pay the eternal death penalty for sin into damnation.

6. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers and churches United in mind and thought through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinth 1:10); (Ps 133:1-2)

7. We believe that all believers are called to be Christ’s witnesses, preaching the Gospel and making disciples using whatever gifts they have received to serve. (Acts 1:8); (Mark 16:15); (Matt 28:19); (1 Peter 4:10)
